About us

Fish Farm Solutions

Fish Farm Solutions is a brand created by the Polish-Norwegian company Food4Future Technologies, which specializes in aquaculture. The company has developed rapid diagnostic tests to detect salmon and shrimp pathogens. Fish Farm Solutions’ mission is the express diagnosis of fish and seafood diseases.

Fish Farm Solutions’ innovative technology was developed by experts in the fields of biotechnology, chemistry, electronics and IT. Our close-knit team has created accurate, fast and easy-to-use tests that will revolutionize the fish and seafood farming market.

Our offer currently includes tests for detecting diseases in salmon and shrimp, but we don’t intend to stop there. We plan to expand it to include tests to detect other fish and seafood diseases. We are also constantly working to improve the resulting products.

Our team’s mission is to quickly detect fish and seafood diseases. Using the tests, growers are able to detect potential risks quickly and with a high degree of accuracy. This enables them to make informed and wise decisions, ensuring the well-being of the animals being raised and increasing the productivity of the farm.

Advantages of Fish Farm Solutions testing

Short waiting time

The results are ready in 20 minutes.

Precision and sensitivity

The pathogen’s proteins are detected with revolutionary EIS technology using a device included in the kit.

Ease of use

Operation does not require a background in biology, chemistry or electronics. It comes with instructions and an app that shows step-by-step how to prepare the sample and perform the test.

Full diagnostic kit at your fingertips

The kit includes everything necessary for the test. The entire set fits in a carrying case and can be easily transported between farms.

Designed to work on farms

The kit is suitable for use on farms and with protective gloves, even in high humidity conditions.

Environmentally friendly materials

The entire set is made of recyclable materials.
The set consists of two parts:
1. a disposable part that contains 10 pcs. tests.
2. a reusable part that we buy only once.
Pathogens detected

What disease pathogens can you protect your farm from with Fish Farm Solutions testing?

Pathogens detected in salmon:

  • Salmonid alphavirus (Salmonid alphavirus, subtypes SAV2 and SAV3) causing pancreatic disease of salmonids
  • Infectious salmon anemia virus (ISAV).
  • Fish orthoreovirus (Piscine orthoreovirus, PRV) causing myocarditis and skeletal muscle inflammation (HSMI)
  • Piscine myocarditis virus (PMCV).
  • Viral haemorrhagic septicaemia virus (VHSV)
  • Atypical bacterium Aeromonas salmonicida

Pathogens detected in shrimp:

  • White Spot Syndrome Virus (WSSV).
  • Taura Syndrome Virus (TSV).
  • Infectious Hypodermal and Hematopoietic Virus (IHHNV).
  • Viral haemorrhagic septicaemia virus (VHSV)
  • Vibrio parahaemolyticus bacterium causing Acute Hepatopancreatic Necrosis Disease (AHPND).

Pathogens detected in oysters:

  • Norovirus that causes gastroenteritis in humans (Norovirus, NoV)

Revolutionary EIS technology

Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) is a method for the linear measurement of the electrical response of a test alloy to stimulation by an electromagnetic signal over a wide frequency band

The Food4Future Technologies team has developed a micro-sensor – an electrode with gold fields on which there is a bioreceptor that recognizes a particular pathogen.
Operating Principle

The performance of the test is based on the interaction between a pathogen protein and a bioreceptor placed on the surface of the test’s reaction field. This is an antigenic test, so the microsensor specifically and with high sensitivity detects proteins of active viruses/bacteria at an early stage of infection.

Unlike tests based on nucleic acid analysis, this technology eliminates the risk of false positives due to the presence of residual DNA or RNA, which are often detected long after the infection has ended.

The [extraction] buffer in the tube causes lysis/decomposition/disintegration of the virus or bacteria. A lysate is formed, which is placed on the reaction field of the microsensor. The protein released in the reaction will bind to the bioreceptor on the electrode.
The electrode surface is modified by bioreceptors, which can specifically bind to a specific protein of the virus or bacteria.
Bioreceptors capture the protein of the virus or bacteria under investigation, if present in the sample.
The reaction causes impedance changes at the electrode. This is illustrated in the graph above. The data is read by the Aquanostic microreader and analysed by the AquanosticApp in the form of a digital result.

The pathogen's proteins are detected through extremely precise and sensitive EIS technology using the device included in the kit.

The kit contains all the consumables necessary to perform the test directly on the farm, even in high humidity conditions.

The test is simple to use, and can be performed by an unskilled person.

The advantage of the test is time - you get the result in 20 minutes.
